Scopey

WestBIC is an Enterprise Ireland partner providing hands-on startup support, funding readiness and investment preparation for early-stage founders in the west of Ireland.

Scopey is a scope-of-work management system for creative services businesses, such as design, marketing, and software agencies. Businesses use Scopey to create scopes of work, capture change requests, add services, and collaborate with their clients. The platform helps businesses to avoid revenue loss, increase sales, and save time.

Key supports received during start-up process & the role WestBIC played

We successfully utilised two Enterprise Ireland Innovation Vouchers and completed the NDRC pre-accelerator program. Additionally, we completed New Frontiers Phase 2 & 3 in Athlone. In November 2023, we secured approval for the Pre-Seed Start Fund from Enterprise Ireland. WestBIC provided invaluable support in drafting and reviewing our application, including the video presentation element.

Scopey has continued to engage with WestBIC and were selected to go forward for the Prep4Seed programme by EI delivered nationally by the Irish Business Innovation Centres (BICs) in March 2024!

Future Plans

By 2026, Scopey aims to have employed 12 people with our headquarters based in Ireland and offices in Australia and USA. Our key markets will be Ireland, Australia, New Zealand & UK with plans to expand into the USA in 2026 also. We will continuously evolve and improve our product while investing in R&D as we scale. By the end of 2024, we aim to have raised our Seed Round which will enable further development and scalability of Scopey.

Words of advice for new start-ups

Words of advice I would give to new startups or someone with an idea are to find a handful of your ideal customers and show them the product early and often. It's easy to ask leading questions to validate your own assumptions, but be honest with yourself and really listen and see when something isn't working or causing friction. Sometimes, you will feel like you are taking one step forward and two steps back, but use those learnings to build a product people will actually love.

Make use of all the amazing supports Ireland has to offer, starting with your local LEO office, then moving on to your BICS and Enterprise Ireland. West BIC was a great support for Scopey with our PSSF application, and it led to a positive result. They continue to work with us, and our success is theirs!
