Key supports received during start-up process & the role WestBIC played

I was lucky enough to have participated with the Enterprise Ireland New Frontiers Programme, phase 1 and 2 in GMIT (now ATU) in Galway. It is a highly recommended program which provided key insights into my plans specifically and operating a business generally.

Ronspot is also making use of the ATU Innovation Hub which is a fantastic facility for a start up. Once the decision was made to seek investment funding, John Brennan and WestBIC was one of the first ports of call. John brought great clarity and focus into the funding process. John supported us to map together financial projections for the future growth of the business and act as a sanity check on our plans.

Ultimately, with WestBIC’s support, we drafted a business plan and financials that could be presented to any set of investors. They also worked in concert with HBAN, some of whose angel investors ultimately invested with Ronspot.

Words of Advice for New Startups

Listen to those who have experience and knowledge in the start up environment, but ultimately trust yourself and your own conclusions. Nobody is as close to the detail of your business and the market as yourself. Stay rational and dispassionate about the decisions that impact the business. Be prepared to work hard. Test market and customer sentiment in a real way as soon as possible. Strong support from family and friends is never to be underestimated.

Future Plans

From three customers in two countries in 2018, to more than 200 customers in 30+ countries today, Ronspot is on a rapid, upward growth trajectory.

The company expects revenues to grow by 400% year-on-year to 2025. The growth has been driven by the widespread adoption of hybrid working models. In the last two years, Ronspot has added new features to it's platform including groups, teams, recurring bookings and single sign-on – resulting in its engineering team more than doubling in the last two years.

On the back of its latest funding round and to fuel further growth, Ronspot will create an additional 10 jobs in the next 18 months, bringing its team up to 28 people. The new roles, based in Galway and Dublin on a hybrid or remote basis, will be in the areas sales, marketing, customer success, data security and human resources. The additional team members will help Ronspot to expand in new and existing markets.
