We believe that fitness professionals should be at the heart of sports technology. We are working with sports scientists, strength & conditioning coaches and physiotherapists to build software that is valid, reliable and easy to use.

Key supports received during start-up process & the role WestBIC played

WestBIC has played an instrumental role in supporting Precision Sports Technology get to the stage where we are now. Applying for Enterprise Ireland’s Competitive Start Fund (now called the Pre-Seed Start Fund) can be a daunting process, especially dealing with the lengthy application form and trying to learn about what key performance indicators Enterprise Ireland are looking for in successful applicants.

WestBIC were there from the start – by providing an incredibly informative and practical webinar to support applicants get started and develop the first iteration of the application. Following this, WestBIC were happy to take our draft, provide key insightful advice, and support us through multiple versions until we were ready for submission. Following the submission process, WestBIC also supported us with our pitch preparation and refining our message before presenting to the Enterprise Ireland evaluation panel. We are really only at the beginning of our journey with WestBIC, and look forward to having them in our corner as we look to grow and expand the business.

Words of advice for new start-ups

The key piece of advice I would give to new start-ups and aspiring founders is to be open and flexible around your idea. It can be easy to visualise something in your head that you think could be wildly successful, but it’s not until you go out and speak to prospective customers that you learn in-depth about the primary issues they are facing and what solutions they are really looking for.

Our target market and main product has completely changed since beginning on the start-up journey, but that is a positive note since we have not ended up developing a product that is not fit for purpose or provides the same level of value as we are developing now. As long as you stick to your core values and listen to key people around you, you will find some level of success.

Future Plans

Precision Sports Technology is focussing on validating the technology with sport science research institutions for accuracy and reliability, which is a fundamental for our target customer base. They are also beginning preparations for seed round fundraising. WestBIC have graciously offered their support to help us achieve this, and we’re looking forward to a busy few months ahead!
