WestBIC is an Enterprise Ireland partner providing hands-on startup support, funding readiness and investment preparation for early-stage founders in the west of Ireland.
MicroInspect, based in Athlone, Co. Westmeath, specialises in harnessing 3D Vision and AI, to unify spatial and imaging data into one platform, delivering powerful imaging solutions, enhancing decision-making and optimising performance. Our proprietary software platform is designed to seamlessly process, manipulate, and analyse this complex data, across diverse areas such as Med-Device and Urban Infrastructure.
Having extensive experience in manufacturing, in combination with deep domain knowledge, led to the founding of MicroInspect, to help simplify the deployment of 3D Vision technology, such as LiDAR & Confocal across various industries.

MicroInspect participated in the New Frontiers program, culminating in acquiring PSSF support of €100K, enabling continuous product development.
Mary Ryan and colleagues at WestBIC, were paramount in assisting us throughout the journey, in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland. Their expertise has been invaluable, providing access to experienced mentors and advisers along the way.
We also had the benefit of partaking in the Pre-Seed+ Programme and the Strategic Marketing Review process, which help to continuously refine our customer base and market opportunities.
Words of advice for new start-ups
Understand the market, your customer and where you fit. Use all available resources to help with the market research (e.g. EI Market Research Centre).
Get the MVP up and running, refine as you go and canvass for customer feedback. Keep moving forward even if it is only in incremental steps.
Future Plans
We are currently in the process of developing a pioneering solution for the Civil Infrastructure sector, using our software platform. This will allow us to validate the solution in the Irish market and subsequently, roll out to the international market.
Future plans, include additional employees as well as further investment, to help accelerate the ongoing development of solutions within the Med-Device sector.
