AQUAFISH0.0
Article content
AQUAFISH0.0 aims to stimulate the sustainable production, processing and consumption of innovative seafood, based on a circular-economy approach that will use by-products and bycatch of the aquaculture and fisheries industries, and
that will raise awareness of the need to implement policies to reduce food losses and waste (zero-waste philosophy) both among consumers and producers.
Partners want to produce, process and sustainably consume seafood. They also want to make sure people understand how important it is to use food wisely and not waste it. They follow a 'zero waste' idea and focus on making food that's good for you.
The project has three main goals. First, they want to do research and develop new and creative ways to make food from parts of the catch that would usually be thrown away. Second, they aim to update the rules and systems that help these products get made. And third, they want to tell people, especially younger ones, about how we can use marine resources wisely and not waste anything.
AQUAFISH0.0 hopes to encourage good practices in the seafood industry by using all parts of the catch, reducing waste, and promoting responsible actions.
The project consortium includes partners from Spain, Portugal, Ireland and France.
This project is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme AQUAFISH0.0 – Atlantic Area
Total Project Budget: €2.21m
