The RaiSE EU Programme runs from 2017 to 2021, and is aimed at making social enterprises more competitive. The programme is funded by the European Commission via Interreg Europe programme, and is led by the region of Catalonia (Spain) through Catalonia Trade & Investment, the Catalan Government public agency for economic promotion. The other participating countries and regions are the Border, Midlands and Western of Ireland (WestBIC), Emilia-Romagna Region (Italy), Orebro County Region (Sweden), and Budapest (Hungary). The partnership is complemented by the Centre for Social Innovation from Vienna (Austria).
The programme aims to help these regions share and exchange best practices and experiences in the field of public policy to support social enterprises. By 2019, the regions will develop an action plan with specific measures to allow businesses in this sector to become more competitive through innovation and internationalisation, among other areas. During the following two years, these new policies will be monitored and evaluated.
