STIMULATING AND SUPPORTING NEW BUSINESS IN IRELAND

A video conference seminar on the subject of E-Business and On-Line Marketing took place at two locations simultaneously in the Gaeltacht, Cill Chartha and Doirí Beaga, recently. The event was run by WESTBIC and Údarás na Gaeltachta as part of the Enterprising Donegal Business Week by Donegal County Enterprise Board. The objective of the seminar was to inform new start ups and existing businesses on how to build and develop their web presence, including how to beat the recession with budget websites and how to create on-line sales opportunities. Over 25 businesses were present at the event. “I was particularly interested in the section dealing with Google Open Platform which will certainly be the future of web business” commented Padraig Carr from ICCT Teo Carrick.

The seminar was addressed by Eunan Cunningham, WESTBIC who introduced the two expert speakers, Gerald Cannon of Lara Media (speaking from Fiontarlann in Cill Chartha) and Dr Mary Attenborough of The Webbery (speaking from Údaras na Gaeltachta, Doirí Beaga). A discussion forum was chaired by Seán Ó Gallachóir, Údarás na Gaeltachta and the seminar was closed by Cathal Mac Suibhne, Bainisteoir Réigiúnach Údarás na Gaeltachta.
