Trainmor-Knowmore Knowledge Management Project making progress in assisting sme's gain competitive advantage
By James Donlon, January 25, 2007
Today, knowledge is one of the most important intangible assets available to organisations which can be systematically exploited to assist organisations in developing and sustaining competitive advantage. As such Knowledge Management is a new and rapidly expanding management practice. While this is acknowledged by most European companies and other public sector organizations (universities, government agencies, local authorities, etc) the necessary guides, tools, systems, methodologies, etc. are not readily available.
Trainmor Knowmore is a pilot project, funded through the Leonardo da Vinci Programme, established to address this gap and to develop and test training materials, methodologies, tools and practices in the area of Knowledge Management. Finding the appropriate guides, tools and methodologies to support the implementation of an internal Knowledge Management (K.M) is often difficult. As a result, 11 partners from Ireland, Greece, Cyprus, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria and Romania, have come together to create a Knowledge Management training platform/portal. This web-based platform will allow managers and employees to investigate Knowledge Management in relation to their own organisations. It will also provide them with simple practical guides and methodologies which will allow them to implement internal Knowledge Management practices.
The Trainmor Knowmore website is currently available with background information on Knowledge Management, project partners, project activities, planned outcomes, etc. As it develops the site will offer practical Knowledge Management guides, tools and methodologies as well as useful information on Knowledge Management research and literature, practitioners, consultants and case studies.
