Training and Business Development Opportunities in Erris

An open evening on training and business development opportunities in Erris will be held on Tuesday 7th December in Aras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet. Courses planned include:
* Start Your Own Business
* Market Gardening
* Marine & Countryside Guiding
* Digital Media Skills
* General Business Development Training
Respresentatives from Údarás na Gaeltachta and MFG Leader Teo will be in attendance to advise on general business development training and supports available for local enterprise.
FÁS are planning to run a part-time Start Your Own Business course in Belmullet, commencing in January 2011. This programme will run one evening a week over ten weeks, and will be delivered by Muintearas. The aim of the programme is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to understand the key processes required in starting a business.
FÁS also plan to run a course on Market Gardening. The aim of this course is to provide learners with knowledge and skills to set up and manage a growing site (plot, tunnel or field) in order to produce crops for a market stall, restaurant, hotel or retail shop.
Erris Tourism, in conjunction with G.M.I.T. Castlebar, will be running a Marine & Countryside Guiding course. This programme is FETAC accredited and will provide participants with the professional skills necessary to offer a quality service to domestic and overseas visitors.
Áras Inis Gluaire will continue their series of part-time introductory and professional level training courses in the digital media sector as part of Tógra na Meáin, the North West Mayo Digital Media Initiative. Tógra na Meáin will offer a number of courses during 2011 including an introductory course on Animation which will be held over three weekends commencing in January.
