By James Donlon, May 10, 2007
Businesses from the Donegal Gaeltacht will have the opportunity to hear speakers on the topic of innovation at a unique business seminar at two Gaeltacht locations, Kilcar and Derrybeg, on Thursday 17th May 2007 at 7.00 p.m. This simultaneous event will be possible using video conference technology where business owners and managers are invited to either location, whichever is the most convenient. Tá an imeacht seo eagraithe ag Údarás na Gaeltachta agus WESTBIC le cainteoirí ón earnáil gnó agus ó na heagraisí tacaíochta.
This event will feature a selection of speakers from the business sector as well as from support agencies and aims to demonstrate practically how innovation can lead to profitability. The seminar will discuss forthcoming opportunities for Gaeltacht enterprises while information on innovation supports and services for businesses in the Donegal Gaeltacht will be provided.
Among the speakers on practical applications of innovation in business are Dan McMonagle of McMonagle Stone, John McDermott of RAP Teo and John Quinn of Spar, Carrick. Examples of innovation and business supports available to Gaeltacht companies will be provided by a number of speakers including Matt Clancy of Údarás na Gaeltachta, Eunan Cunningham, WESTBIC, Michael O Brien, BMW Assembly and Simon Johnston, EpiCentre, LYIT. There will be an open forum at the end with opportunities for questions and discussion.
Eunan Cunningham from WESTBIC, the Business and Innovation Centre for the Border, Midland and Western Region stated “we hope to take the mystery out of innovation and encourage enterprises to be innovative in their approach to business”.
The seminar is free of charge and all businesses or individuals with business ideas are welcome to attend at either Kilcar (Ionad Forbartha Gnó, WESTBIC) or at Údarás na Gaeltachta offices, Derrybeg.
