Entrepreneurs shaping their future in Claremorris
By Joan Fahey, December 23, 2010
An exciting new business programme called Shape Your Future was recently held in Claremorris, Co. Mayo. This programme targeted people aged 50 or over who are currently unemployed or facing redundancy, and helped them explore how to use their existing skills and talents for self employment.
The programme comprised of two stages. During stage one, a trained facilitator worked with participants to enable them take stock of their situation and to identify the roadblocks holding them back. Participants explored their passions and interests and gained an insight into the area of enterprise.
Stage two involved the exploration of participants own business ideas, as well as a study of the importance and key components of a business plan. Participants gained an understanding of what makes a successful entrepreneur and of how to make a business viable.
This programme was funded under the EU Education and Culture Lifelong Learning Programme. If you would like further information on this programme, please contact Seamus McCormack: smccormack@westbic.ie
