Mayo Ideas Week 2017 kicked off on 25th September with the theme of The Challenge of Change.  A total of sixteen events were held across the county including seminars and workshops in Castlebar, Ballina, Belmullet, Westport and Claremorris, with almost 1,200 attendees. The first event of the week was the Spirit of Change seminar which was held in GMIT Mayo Campus, Castlebar.

Hosted by Mayo Local Enterprise Office in association with AIB, and supported by Mayo Ideas Lab, the Spirit of Change seminar explored the challenges and opportunities arising across the changing international, political, social and business environments.  The speakers included Yvonne Holmes, head of business performance and analytics, AIB; Mayo-born Willie Ruane, CEO, Connacht Rugby; Dr Mark White, manager of Marine Development Team, Marine Ireland, and Fiona Slevin, chief operating officer, ORRECO.
Other events during the week included the Mayo SICAP Enterprise Awards; Mayo Tourism: 2020 and Beyond; Jobs of the Future; Core Online Skills for Business; Digital Technologies – Rejuvenating Rural Business and many more.  Running every September since 2010, Mayo Ideas Week is very much a collaborative initiative, with more than 30 organisations and agencies co-hosting events over the years.
